Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The rugs that come from the city and from nomads or farmers in the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims are woven using the traditional slit-weave technique. They often feature small patterns with designs such as bouquets of roses and rows of tree or floral motifs. Traditional Mahi motifs may also appear, as well as a large central field, often with a rhombus in varying colors.
